FAQ
We want to ensure you have the most fantastic time as our guest.
To help you choose the perfect river cruise, we have created a list of the most common questions we get asked. If the topic you have a question about isn’t covered, please contact us directly or your travel agent who will be happy to put your mind at ease.
We have included a lot already as part of your cruise package. Your cabin, breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as the onboard entertainment programme and shore excursions are all included.
Any additional expense really depends on what other activities you’d like to partake in. If you wish to enhance your cruise experience by enjoying a relaxing spa treatment, booking one of our premium excursions or enjoying a drink at one of our bars then there will be additional charges.
On shore, when exploring you may decide to enjoy a drink in a local bar or buy a gift from one of the many markets, so it’s always a good idea to have some money with you.
In a nutshell, bringing credit or debit cards with you is advisable, as you never know when you may need extra money for an emergency or spontaneous purchase.
All calculations on board are carried out using your individual guest card, which you will receive upon embarkation. You can either pre-pay by placing a deposit on the card or purchase services throughout your trip and simply pay at the end of your cruise.
Dining on a river cruise is a fine culinary experience. Vodohod ships always offer a choice of restaurants and bars on board to provide a wide range of meals, snacks and drinks for the most demanding clients. Most ships offer informal, free seating with a casual dress code. However, if you do want to dress up, there is a chance to do it while attending the Captain’s Dinner.
Three meals a day are served across every ship in the fleet. Depending on the class of the ship, service formats vary between buffet or a la carte style, as well as free or fixed-seating arrangements.
We have coffee stations available across our four and five star ships for your convenience.
A river cruise is an informal holiday with the onboard dress code casual comfortable clothing.
For the guided tours along your route, you will need clothing and shoes which will allow you to cover a variety of terrains in complete comfort. The majority of guests choose jeans and trainers, however for visiting churches and monasteries, women are advised to wear long skirts and scarves, and men need to wear trousers.
For the evenings, if you enjoy dressing up, having a set of formal attire may come in handy for Captain’s gala reception during which, women opt for evening dresses and men, a classic suit and tie combination. Formal eveningwear is not compulsory.

Passenger safety and wellbeing is our top priority.
Prior to each season and in accordance with the classification of the Russian river classification all of our ships undergo a rigorous annual survey and inspection. Only after passing the test and receiving documents on the suitability for sailing, our ships go out to navigation.
Our crews undergo mandatory training for all emergency scenarios. All vessels are equipped with rafts, boats and life jackets
In 2012, we were the first Russian river cruise company to develop and implement a security management system (SMS).
Before any of our ships starts a cruise, we undertake a comprehensive passenger briefing, ensuring that our guests know the safety procedures. This includes where and how to wear life jackets and where the lifeboats are located.
Your safety is our number one priority.
