The capital of the Golden Ring» takes place on the Mustai Karim, a Luxury Deluxe (Vodohod-operated) comfortable motor ship. What are the anchorages along the route famous for?
Uglich, one of the oldest cities in Russia that became part of the Moscow Principality back in the 14th century. It has a Kremlin and the Church of Tsarevich Dmitry featuring a unique 18th century fresco depicting the tragic death of the Tsar's son. Its interesting sightseeing attractions also include the Transfiguration Cathedral and the Epiphany Monastery.
Myshkin, a former district fair trade center, picturesque and original. Attracting crowds of tourists every year, today's Myshkin is a museum town of the Russian provinces that features well-preserved old merchant buildings and exemplifies regular life-style. It hosts the estate of millionaire merchant T.V. Chistov with a two-story mansion, a museum of Russian felt boots, an old mill and, last but not least, the Assumption Cathedral.
Yaroslavl, the former capital of Ancient Rus and the current capital of the Golden Ring of Russia. Yaroslavl is a city of contrasts organically combining ancient streets with ancient buildings and modern infrastructure. The Transfiguration Monastery, the Art Museum and the Governor's Park are located there.
