What is Tver famous for?
Tver, Moscow's rival for the right to be the center of the principalities. Located between two capitals, one of the oldest cities in Russia still plays a major commercial and industrial role. Tver is very original and picturesque, featuring many attractions and a rich history. It hosts the Imperial Travel Palace of Catherine II (most commonly known as Catherine the Great), unique architectural monuments dating back to the 18-19th centuries, the Museum of Tver Life and the famous Tver Arbat.

Zavidovo is an ideal resort for a comfortable holiday. The settlement is mentioned in chronicles since 1560. There was a post station here, where travellers on the famous "Sovereign's Road" connecting Moscow and St. Petersburg stopped. A new river pier will be opened in Zavidovo, which will be part of a large project of the Volga Sea tourist cluster.
This city is so called little Petersburg. Despite its own unique face, one can find many similarities with the Northern capital: regular layout, the Versailles trident (three streets diverging from the center), the famous Karl Rossi worked in the city improvement committee. It wasn't always like that, Tver appeared after restoration from the fire of 1763. The reconstruction of the city became a state affair and the first deed ascended to the throne of Catherine II.
