Uglich

This jewel of the Golden Ring of Russia dates back to 937 AD, and so is one of the nation’s oldest cities. Its gem-like architecture includes the gold and blue-domed Church of St. Dmitry on the Blood. This is the place to savour traditional Russian life, with a walking tour through the Kremlin, a visit to the striking Transfiguration Cathedral, and a short choir concert.

Yaroslavl

Due to its centuries’ old architectural masterpieces and expanses of green space, Yaroslavl is another UNESCO World Heritage site and also capital of the Golden Ring. Here, you can tour the city by bus – the easiest way to see sights like the Church of Elijah the Prophet. On foot, you'll explore a thriving local market. You'll even be treated to a tour of the exgovernor's mansion.

Kostroma

Take a bus city tour to Kostroma’s set of stalls, which has been one of the largest commercial centers of Russia since the end of XVIII century. Discover the Ipatiev Monastery founded at the beginning of the XIV century in honor of the Holy Trinity and in the name of St. Hypatius of Gangra. This monastery is rightfully considered one of the oldest in Russia and is also known as the craddle of Romanov's dynasty.

Nizhny Novgorod

The city just recently celebrated its 800-year aniversary and during your stay you can get aquainted with its rich history and ancient architecture. The main attraction is the Kremlin it was built at the beginning of the sixteenth century as a military fortress, nowadays, this unique open-air museum. The city is a large industrial, cultural and transport center of the Middle Volga and used to be known as "the pocket" of Russia thanks to world-famous Fair.

Cheboksary

The city of Cheboksary is located on the right bank of the middle Volga River between Nizhny Novgorod and Kazan. Cheboksary is the capital of Chuvashia - one of a few republics in Russia. It is populated with local nationality - Chuvash, who have preserved their national features like language, culture and traditions. The city is more than 550 years old and fascinates visitors with the organical combination of architectural monuments with the modern embankment, decorated with a lattice with a national ornament.

Kazan

Kazan is the capital of one more Russian republic - Tatarstan. Here you'll meet the local nationality - Tatars, they are muslim and speak their native Tatar language as well as Russian language Influenced by Russian tradition and eastern colours, Kazan’s architecture is a wonderful mix. Old church spires, belfry towers and minarets sit high above the skyline of modern buildings, alongside the white-stone walls of the Kremlin.

Samara

Samara is a city with a rich history and classical Russian architecture, where the golden domes of temples harmonize with glittering facades of modern buildings on the background of green hills and majestic Volga River. This city with a million inhabitants and 400 year-old history is famous for numerous monuments, buildings of the XVIII-XIX centuries, and also evidences of the significant events of the XX century.

Saratov

Saratov is the childhood home of Yuri Gagarin - the first man in space and many monuments of the city are dedicated to this extrardinary person. The multidimensional tour introduces the basic milestones of the city life, of its past and present. You will see the oldest square of the city – the Museum square, and one of the newest the Gagarin square, and will walk along the Cosmonauts Embankment, which offers a wonderful view to the bridge across the Volga. Enjoy a beautiful panorama of the city from the Sokolov Mountain, see the monument to the soldiers of Saratov, and join a walking tour along the Kirov Avenue after that.

Volgograd

First called Tsaritsyn, then remaned Stalingrad and eventually Volgograd became known during World War II at the time of the battle of Stalingrad (winter of 1942) which was the turning point for the Russian resistance to Hitler, and for the war as a whole. Mamaev Kurgan, the site for the battle's fiercest fighting is now a memorial dominated by a 85-meter (279 ft) statue of The Motherland Calls - it is the tallest statue in Europe and the tallest statue of a woman in the world.

Astrakhan

The largest river and sea port in the Volga-Caspian basin, Astrakhan is spread over 11 islands linked together by bridges. Founded in the 13th century by the Tatars, it is now a multinational city where Russians, Kalmyks, Tatars, Kirghizes and Cossacks happily coexist. Visit the striking white kremlin built during the reign of Ivan the Terrible, visit local museums or enjoy a walk along the beautiful riverfront.
